First Weekend of Summer

This weekend, we are hosting a free public event called Go Green Weekend. One of our summer exhibitions, Bob The Builder – Project: Build It, focuses on the motto “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle,” so we thought it would be fitting to invite area organizations out to showcase what we can all do at home and in our everyday lives to be better stewards of the environment.

On Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22, we’ll host Southern California Edison’s Mobile Energy Unit and a Home Depot “How To Clinic.” Advanced Solar Integration and Waste Management will be out here, and Orange County Vector Control will offer ways to safely ward off vectors in and around the home. You can sign up for a beach clean-up day with the Surfrider Foundation or sample organic drinks from Trader Joe’s. Our neighbor down the street, The Road Less Traveled, will be consulting with families who want to use Earth-friendly products in the home. Finally, our ever-popular game show – “Get Your Mind Into The Gutter” – will be hosted at our SunStage.

Plus, visitors who used public transportation to get to our event can get a discount on admission to Discovery Science Center by showing their pass at the ticket window.

If you attend the event this weekend, we’d like to see your photos. Please email them to our marketing team or share them on flickr.
